Upcycled Garden Flower Plate

THURSDAY, MAY 11, 2023 AT 6 PM – 8:15 PM

Come craft with us to assemble a beautiful upcycled Garden Plate Ornament.
All supplies will be provided.
Cost: $40
What you will get included in the cost:
4 to 5 tiers of glass or ceramic plates, bowls, cups, etc (from a collection of about 300 pieces)
Holder on the back to insert a rebar (rebar can be purchased at the hardware stores $5 to $7 depending on the length you chose)
Instructions on how to attach them using a caulking gun adhesive at the class!
Embellishments like flat backed glass gems and resin flower, embellishments for decorating your masterpiece.
Grab a friend and join us for this awesome workshop. We will show you how to assemble a beautiful garden plate ornament. There will be lots of different sizes and colors of plates to build from. We will attach them using a caulk gun and an industrial strength outdoor adhesive (Loctite ultimate outdoor powergrab adhesive)
There will be a discounted price of $25 should you decide to make a 2nd one (details will be given on class day). I think you will have so much fun, you will want to make another! You can pay the day of the event should you decide. Kids are welcome if accompanied by a paying adult. (2 tickets)

Early Birds In The Garden

THURSDAY, MAY 18, 2023 AT 6 PM – 8 PM

Please join us for this cute “Early Birds” project for Spring. Beaded Suncatcher or Garden Ornament $26, or a Nightlight $30.

All materials will be provided. Approx size: 3.5″ No experience needed. Some of the glass will be pre-cut glass as well as some self- cutting too. There will be plenty of room to add your own creativity. Dexterity needed for light cutting so bring your best pair of glasses too. This class is appropriate for children age 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult and cut the glass for them (need to purchase 2 spots) CLICK ON “FIND TICKETS” WITHIN THIS EVENT FOR TICKET INFO. Thank you!

You will create your design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and assembled and can be picked up the following week at the museum during open hours. (Normally Weds & Saturdays 12-3:00 pm) Email will be sent out with pickup instructions.
If we can set up early, doors will open 10 min prior to the event. This is a fundraising event……. Thank you for your support of the museum! Drinks that are covered are ok in the venue but please no food. Wine is ok too! Please let us know if you will need to use the handicap parking and ramp in front. In this workshop we will teach you how to Resin/Epoxy pour using alcohol ink and mica powders onto birch hardwood. The Hardwood is cut by laser so the details in the shoreline are absolutely amazing. Rocks, Crystals, Shells and other accessories also available for a small charge.

Wine Bottle Windchime Workshop

TUESDAY, JUNE 6, 2023 AT 6:15 PM – 8:15 PM

Please join us for this beautiful Wine Bottle Windchime class.

Cost is $31.


This is a super fun class and very rewarding. All materials provided. Photos are of designs made in other classes. You’ll be able to pick from a variety of colored beads and sails (bottom piece).

I will give you a bird’s eye view of how to score and cut the wine bottles. However, the bottles will be cut prior to the class as that is a lengthy process requiring a stove.

You will have hands on instructions on how to smooth the edges and bead your beautiful creation!
No experience is needed, however, this will take some dexterity and a great pair of eyeglasses to complete the beading.

This class is appropriate for children age 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult who will supervise (due to limited seating, will need to purchase 2 spots).

If you chose the pay by mail option, an email will be sent out 3 to 4 weeks prior with payment mailing instructions. Thank you!

Summer Bourbon Cocktails Class

SUNDAY, JUNE 11, 2023 AT 2 PM

For a lot of people, summer is about lighter white spirits, like vodka or gin. But bourbon can be a great summertime mixer. Join Rebecca Morrow of Tammy’s Tastings for a fun and interactive class at Straight Farmhouse. You’ll explore the lighter side of bourbon cocktails with fruity farm-to-glass creations, tropical Tiki drinks, and refreshing sours.
 
Your booking includes light snacks (pretzels, nuts). The class includes a combination of history and stories, technique instruction, and hands-on making of cocktails. Plus sampling, of course! Total consumption is equivalent to 1.5-2 cocktails per person over the 2 hour class.
 
Please note that we have a restricted table layout and use communal seating. Parties of two will almost always be seated with at least one other party of two. Groups of four or more will usually have their own table. You may request a private table in the “seat with” section of the booking form, and we will attempt to honor your request, but there is no guarantee that one will be available.

Upcycled Garden Owl Yard Art

Please join us for this super cute Garden Owl Yard Art.
 
Laurie with Kiss My Glass will be bringing all the materials to make your own upcycled garden owl. The plates are approx 10- 11″ tall and 6″ wide. You will have several different glass gem color combinations to design with. (product availability could be limited) You will need a metal stake to attach to your project to insert it into the ground. These can be found at Menards/HomeDepot/Lowe’s for about $6.
 
This will be a step-by-step instructional course. I will take you from the first step to the very last step. You will create your project by using an outdoor safe adhesive (using a caulking gun) and will be a make and take craft so it will go home with you that evening.
 
PLEASE BRING A BOX (approx 15″) , PAIR OF GARDENING GLOVES TO USE FOR THE CAULKING GUN AND SEVERAL RAGS TO PROP UP YOUR PROJECT INSIDE THE BOX so you can take it home to dry. PLEASE KEEP THE BOX AND RAGS IN YOUR CAR UNTIL THE END OF THE CLASS. PLEASE BRING YOUR GARDENING GLOVES WITH YOU TO CLASS.

Straight Farmhouse Garden Walk Vendor and Craft Show

SATURDAY, JULY 15, 2023 AT 10 AM

DO NOT SEND MONEY TO AN INDIVIDUAL – FEES ARE THROUGH THE STRAIGHT FARMHOUSE ONLY!!!
The Straight Farmhouse and the Garden City Garden Club is once again hosting a Craft and Vendor Show during the 29th Annual Garden Walk.
 
Come join the vendor show, spaces are limited and each crafter must be approved. $25.00 fee Spaces are minimum 10′ by 10′.
 
Garden Walk starts at 10am until 3:00 pm this is a rain or shine event! Everyone comes to the SFH during the Garden Walk. Door prize tickets, lunch, plant sale, and backyard bouquet contest are all at the Straight Farmhouse Historic District.
 
We are also looking for Youth vendors to show off their talents. Youth are welcome to apply for a free space to showcase their Art.

We are so excited to bring this workshop to you in Garden City it’s been in the designing process for quite some time and it’s even more beautiful than we expected. Wait till you see these in person! In this workshop we will show you how to pour your resin on the canvas and then layer your bridge and trees. We have some tricks we can show you to make your project look more 3D and if you want you can light up your sky with remote controlled LED lights that operation off of 3 AA batteries (we even give you your first set free)

Beaded & Wired Fused Glass Baubles Workshop

Please join us for this exclusive beaded & wired glass “baubles” class.
 
Cost: $30
 
This is a take home project with glass pieces that have already been designed and drilled. We will bead and wire glass pieces that have been designed and assembled. You will need to be a bit familiar with wire wrapping or have an excitement to learn the basics and able to follow basic instructions.
 
All materials will be provided. Glass pieces are approx size: 1.5″ and each project will have 4 pieces. Dexterity needed for beading and wire wrapping and bring your best pair of glasses with you, if needed. This class is appropriate for children age 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult(need to purchase 2 spots).
 
If we can set up early, doors will open 10 min prior to the event. This is a fundraising event……. Thank you for your support of the museum! You may bring snacks and a beverage of your choice. Wine is ok too! Please let us know if you will need to use the handicap parking and ramp in front. Otherwise you can enter from the rear of the building where you will park.
 
If you chose payment by mail. Payment instructions will be emailed approx. 3 weeks prior to the event.

Pumpkin Necklace Workshop

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28, 2023 AT 6 PM – 8 PM

Please join us for this beautiful Pumpkin Jewelry Workshop.
Cost: $26
 
You will be so delighted to see and wear this colorful collage pumpkin design.
 
All materials will be provided. No experience is needed. Dexterity needed for light cutting so bring your best pair of glasses too.
 
This class is appropriate for children age 10+ who are accompanied by a paid adult who will cut the glass for them (need to purchase 2 spots) Approx size Necklace 1.25″ 18″ to 20″ Nylon Black cord included.
 
You will create your design by using a special tac glue as an adhesive. All projects will go home with the instructor to be kiln fired and assembled and can be picked up the following week at the museum during open hours. (normally Weds & Saturdays 12-3:00 pm) Email will be sent out with pickup instructions.
